Goldscheider 1940’s powder bowl. The Goldscheider success story was, however, brutally disrupted by Aryanization in 1938: as Jews, the Goldscheider family were forced to emigrate; the venerable firm that looked back on such a long tradition was sold to a new proprietor, who was unable to keep up the high artistic quality standard. The Goldscheider brothers did succeed in building up new ceramics firms in exile in the US and England. Walter Goldscheider started a new factory in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1941 it became Goldscheider Everlast Corporation. Walter Goldscheider even returned to Vienna after the Second World War to take over his old company again - however, the sale of the company to Carstens, a German firm, in the 1950s put an end to the great Goldscheider ceramics tradition.
Condition: Slight crazing and tiny crack to the bowl (please view in photos).
